The total assets of pension funds worldwide overall increased during the last decade. The value grew from around 26.1 trillion U.S. dollars in 2009, up to more than 51 trillion U.S. dollars in 2022. The largest pension funds market in the world as of 2022 was the United States, with total assets almost ten times as large as the second largest pension fund market, which was the United Kingdom.
